Background & aim: Patients with intestinal failure (IF) are dependent on parenteral nutrition delivered through central access such as Hickman (TM) catheters. The peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) is becoming increasingly popular for the purpose. The aim of the present study was to compare complication rates between the two types of catheters.
