Southern wants Colombian coal for the Daniel plant

Southern Company is surveying the market for a few cargoes of Colombian spot coal for the Daniel plant,sources tell Coal Americas.Southern wants to insure that Daniel will receive an adequate supply of compliance coal during the remainder of the year.Deliveries would begin as soon as possible,sources said.Given Southern Company's resourcefulness it won't be impossible for the power company to locate available cargoes of Colombian coal.However,the price will be more expensive now than it would have been just a few weeks ago due to hot demand in Europe and tight barge availability.
