Colombia's Bocas de Ceniza Port Society has selected U.S.-based Sunland Group to construct a cape size port at Barran-quilla. Sunland will be responsible for designing and financing the first stage of the project. Operation of the new port is expected to begin in 2010, with initial capacity totaling 8.0 million tonnes/year. Eventually capacity will be expanded to 12.0 million tonnes/year. The new port will have a stockpile capacity of 0.5 million tonnes, and will be equipped with one 10,000 tonnes/hour ship loader.
