Kinder morgan completes expansion at pier IX terminal

Kinder Morgan Energy Partners have completed a US70 million expansion to the Pier IX terminal at Hampton Roads,including a new pier that will be used primarily for handling coal imports.The new pier,called Pier X,can receive coal either by barge or vessel and has a 3.0 million short tons/year throughput capacity.Plans for the expansion at Pier IX began in 2006 when coal imports into the U.S.were booming and the export market appeared to be in sharp decline.
