U.S.coal export infrastructure is holding up adequately - for now,according to Steven Leer,chairman and CEO of Arch Coal.However,Leer sees challenges ahead.Leer expects U.S.coal exports to reach 80 million short tons in 2008 and continue to grow during the remainder of the decade."We think there's more room above the 80s," Leer said recalling when total U.S.coal exports reached 100 million tons in the early 1990s."Beyond that,I think it will be a bigger challenge."
