In this issue of WORLD NEUROSyRGEBY, Allouch et al. review their series of 99 patients with burr hole biopsies in which realtime ultrasound guidance and monitoring was used. The authors propose this technique as a means to ensure correct biopsy target and minimize the risk of bleeding during biopsies. The ultrasound probe was fixed within the biopsy needle guide connected to the Mayfield clamp's self-retaining device. The planned needle trajectory was superimposed onto the ultrasound image, and the biopsies were taken only with the use of ultrasound to navigate.
