Environmental Minister to control coal port licenses

In the future,Colombia's Environmental Minister will control the right to award coal port licenses,not local authorites.This new policy could have negative implications for the Colombia's coal industry.As it currently stands,only two ports at Santa Marta will have their environmental licenses renewed -- Drummond's Cienga port,which will have a license until 2025 and the facility operated by the coal port authority at Santa Marta.Barranquilla will have two ports - Bocas de Ceniza for Coalcorp and a new facility assigned at Mallorquin,which is still in the licensing process.
