With the prototype Hydrocone H7800 successfully crushing Chilean copper, Sandvik Rock Processing (SRP) organised launch events in Santiago and, later, Antofagasta, which is close enough to the Mantos Blancos mine for attendees to see the machine working. SRP's technical manager mining, Christian Ottergren outlined the evolution of the Hydrocone crusher and its applications in mining. Process specialist crushing technology Dr C Magnus Evertsson summarised research and modelling applications in designing the high performance crushing system comprising the H7800 itself, customised crushing chambers and a new control algorithm for the ASRi automatic setting regulation unit. Royne Eden, technical support manager for SRP's mining group in South America, described the crusher's key features and Victor Dosseto, a product support engineer for the Sandvik Chile rock processing division, the installation at Mantos Blancos.
