EFFICACY OF DIFFERENT ACARICIDES AGAINST HONEY BEE MITE, VARROA DESTRUCTOR (ANDERSON AND TRUEMAN) IN APIS MELLIFERA LINNAEUS COLONIES IN UTTARAKHAND

Studies to control mite, Varroa destructor (Anderson and Trueman) in the colonies of Apis mellifera Linnaeus at different locations in Uttarakhand by fumigation with formic acid 85 per cent @ 5 ml, sulphur dusting @ 200 mg /colony, dicofol @ 1 ml, thymol strips @ 1 g thymol powder/strip/hive, thymol crystals @ 500 mg/hive, flumethrin drops @ 0.5 ml /hive with two applications in a month revealed that flumethrin was most effective giving 50.46 -84.91 per cent recovery in brood infestation and dustingwith sulphur was the least effective resulting in 41.51 - 49.98 per cent recovery in brood infestation.
