摘要

Publications dealing with studies of structure, physical and mechanical properties of carbon tube and onion nanostructures are reviewed together with the results of the studies in development of powder composites for tribological applications based on them. Application of carbon nanostructures for development of special materials and ensuing prospects in engineering are discussed. At present material scientists of the world are attracted by application of carbon nanostructures for improving operational characteristics of materials, e.g. their tribological behavior. The mechanics of the structures having at least a single coordinate in the nanometric scale is the most dynamically progressing sphere of materials science. It is due to a possibility of creation of entirely new materials with wide functional capabilities. Hence, it is necessary to emphasize the significance of development of nanomaterials.
