摘要

The results of complex comparative study of micro- and mesostructure, wear debris morphology, tribological behavior and mechanism of plastic deformation in friction of steel 45 in the original and ion-implanted states are presented. An approach to the description of plastic deformation and failure in friction was applied which involved the concept of structural levels of plastic deformation and physical mesomechanics methods. Vortex flow of mesostructure elements is found to occur considerably later for ion-implanted specimens compared with the original state of the material. This is the primary cause of reduced content of coarse wear particles and hence higher wear resistance of ion-implanted steel 45 compared with non-implanted.
