摘要

The effect of the mechanical characteristics of irradiated polymeric materials on the wear rate of pin-on-disk couples in fluid is studied. The study reveals a good correlation between the mechanical characteristics of cross-linked irradiated polymers and their wear rate. The proposed method allows prediction of the behavior of the wear curve by the dependences of the mechanical characteristics on the radiation dose, thus obviating lengthy testing on friction apparatus.
