High-performance longwall face technology and automation for mining thick seams at Ziemowit Colliery

This article presents some colliery specialists experiences resulting from mining high-performance longwalls no, 901 and 902, used afterwards for up-grading the reinforcement of longwall no, 903 and 904, which enabled the receipt of a daily production rate from this longwall face exceeding 8,000 st. Operational achievements from high-performance longwall no. 903 and the mechanical equipment installed in it, including a visualisation of the shearer and of the face conveyor operation with images transmitted to the surface, are presented within this article. Please note that the experience and an analysis of the problems, which occurred during an exploitation of longwall no, 903, were used for further up-grading of the longwall system to be installed in longwall no. 904.
