Colombian exporters tap into the Asian market, but are a few traditional markets fading away?

Colombian coal exporters have tapped into exciting new markets in Asia this year, but they can't be too happy at some of the recent developments in the Atlantic Basin and North American markets. Coal is being shoved to the sidelines by an increasing number of power generators. Last month, Europe's fifth largest power generator, Vattenfall, announced plans to reduce its total coal consumption by 40 percent during the next 10 years by introducing biomass as a fuel source at its coal-fired plants in Germany and Poland.
