Korea Western Power purchased 160,000 tonnes of Colombian coal for delivery in March-April 2012. Price is undisclosed. The utility received bids from seven companies offering Colombian, Canadian and South African coal. Specs for the Colombian coal are 5,600 Kcal/kg (minimum). Freight rates for Colombian coal traveling into the Pacific market are favorable. More Colombian coal could find its way into the region this year.
