MPX Energia will burn 2.8 million tonnes of coal per year at new power plants in Brazil

Brazilian-based MPX Energia will burn 2.8 million tonnes/year of imported coal at three new power plants that it is constructing in Brazil.The 720-megawatt Pecem I power project in Brazil's Ceara state is scheduled to become operational in the second half of 2011. It will burn 1.4 million tonnes/year of coal. According to MPX, construction on Pecem I is 73 percent complete. The first 360-megawatt module energy generator recently arrived at port and assembly of some boilers and turbines are in advanced stages.
