Drummond and Cerrejon could add 29 million tonnes to the market by 2013

Drummond has been awarded the environmental license necessary to proceed with the development of the El Descanso concession,the company's president,Augusto Jimenez,announced at McCloskey's Coal Conference of the Americas.El Descanso has 1.764 billion tonnes of reserves,which along with the 543 million tonnes of reserves contained in the La Loma,Rincon Hondo and Similoa concessions,will more than adequately replace depleting production at the La Loma mine.Observers believe El Descanso could produce up to 20 million tonnes/year of coal by 2010.The new mining areas,which are located north of Drummond's Pribbenow mine in the Cesar Department,require Drummond to invest in rail and mine building structures in order to bring production on stream.
