Before joining the faculty at Harvard School of Public Health in 1988, Lucian Leape, MD, HFACHE, was professor of surgery and chief of pediatric surgery at Tufts University .School of Medicine and the New England Medical Center. Dr. Leape is internationally recognized as a leader in the patient safety movement, starting with the 1994 publication of his seminal article, "Error in Medicine," in JAMA. He has published more than 130 papers on the topics of care quality and patient safety.
