Social bookmarking: what every clinical nurse specialist should know.

The advent of Web 2.0 has generated a variety of tools that facilitate collaborating with colleagues throughout the world, using the World Wide Web. Some of these tools, like social networking sites (eg, Facebook, MySpace, and Linkedln), have been popularized by the Internet generation.1 The purpose of this article is to discuss another Web 2.0 tool pertinent to the practice of the clinical nurse specialist (CNS): social bookmarking. Social bookmarking is a Web-based feature that allows one to gather relevant Web sites and references, identify them for later use by "tagging," and share the resource with colleagues. There are 3 key features to social bookmarking: availability, tagging, and collaboration.
