Fry of Pacific Slimehead Hoplostethuspacificus—a Rare Species of the Family of Slimeheads (Trachichthyidae, Beryciformes)

Species of the genus Hoplostethus (fam. Trachichthyidae) mainly inhabit the continental slope and some seamounts in the tropical, subtropical, and temperate waters of the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans (Kotlyar, 1996). They are usually found atdepths of 200—1200 m, but some species occur at larger depths (H. atlanticus, almost at depths up to 1600 m), and some species also occur at the external margin of the shelf (70—200 m).
