摘要

New series of 4-(substituted biphenyl-4-yl)-6-methyl-2-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-pyrimidine-5-carboxylic acid ethyl ester and 4-(substituted biphenyl-4-yl)-6-methyl-2-thioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-pyrimidine-5-carboxy lic acid ethyl ester has been synthesized and the structures of the new compounds were established on the basis of H-1 NMR, Mass (ES/MS), elemental analysis, and melting point. In-vitro antibacterial activity (MIC activity) was evaluated and compared with standard drugs ciprofloxacin, sparfloxacin, and trovafloxacin. Most of the compounds in this new series have shown model-ate antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms.
