Holographic Interferometric Studies on Surface Deformation of Certain Materials

We apply double-exposure holographic interferometry for surface deformation and defect analysis of certain metal plates in unique ways. The plates of copper, iron, brass, and steel having the small dimensions of 5 cm × 1 cm × 0 1 cm are tested non-destructively using four point bending technique. Interferograms are analyzed using special software and used to study debonds, cracks in the plates as well as to calculate the Poisson's coefficients.
