Further evidence of the benefits associated with antiviral treatment in kidney allograft recipients with chronic hepatitis B virus infection.

We read with interest the comment by Sebastiani et al. on our article on the ability of ~(13)C2-aminopyrine breath test (~(13)C-ABT) to predict the progression of liver fibrosis in patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV)-related chronic hepatitis C [1]. They remarked on the existence of laboratory and instrumental tools [2] other than ~(13)C-ABT, largely validated and even suggested by current guidelines [3], in the prediction of severity of HCV-related liver diseases.
