Benign F-18 FDG uptake along a mediastinoscopy tract: demonstration by F-18 FDG PET/CT imaging.

We present a case of benign F-18 FDG uptake occurring along a mediastinoscopy tract on F-18 FDG PET/CT imaging 6 weeks after subcarinal lymph node biopsy in a patient with metastaticmalignant melanoma. Recognition of this linear pattern of benign tracer uptake and correlating with the patient's procedure history is essential to avoid mistaking it for progression of mediastinalmetastases.
