The authors appreciate the opportunity to respond to the letter by David Adlam et al. [1] and would like to thank the author group for the contribution and their interest in our work [2], We fully agree on their comments. The primary goal of our research is to improve the plaque characterization of Cardiac CT as a non-invasive imaging modality. It is not the primary goal to replace invasive high resolution imaging modalities like OCT and histology. OCT indeed can show thin cap fibroatheroma. Cardiac CT will only show the indirect proof by showing low attenuation areas close to the lumen area which might be an indication for the presence of vulnerable plaque. Our main task is therefore to exploit weather new developed CT technique as model based iterative reconstructions or dual energy could optimize the Cardiac CT possibility to detect vulnerable plaque even with relatively low resolution validated through OCT and histology.
