Amino acid concentrations were determined in 18 dried commercial infant formulae manufactured in Spain. The samples included adapted, follow-on, hypoallergenic, preterm, soya-based and lactose-free formulae. Nearly all milk-based formulae had aminoacid concentrations above the ESPGAN recommendations, except for tryptophan. The concentrations of methionine in all soya-based formulae were higher than those in standard protein. Differences were found in concentrations of essential and non-essential amino acids among formulae, with the main differences being in arginine, cysteine and leucine.
