Fragmentation from Pattern Expansion with Electronic Detonators at the Red Dog Mine

A blasting project was undertaken at the Teck Alaska Red Dog Mine from 2005 to 2007 to determine the extent that using electronic detonators could increase Semi-Autogenous Grinding (SAG) mill throughput. The results of that project were reported at the 2010 ISEE Annual Conference and the September/October 2010 issue of the Journal of Explosives Engineering. This article is a postscript to that project and provides the fragmentation resulting from the implementation of a 15% pattern expansion using electronic detonators.
