The experiment was carried out to determine effects of application of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) peels on properties of crude oil (Bonny light) polluted soils and maize (Zea mays L.) growth. Bonny light crude was used to pollute soils at fourlevels (0, 10, 20 and 40 ml/20 kg) while four rates (0, 50, 100 and 150 kg ha-1) of peels were applied to the soil two weeks after pollution. Each treatment was replicated three times. The results show that total nitrogen decreased with increase in the level of pollution but increased with increase in crude oil and peels level. Leaf area was unaffected by peels level. Mean plant height ranged from 26.2 to 95.5 cm at the end of the experiment but decreased with increasing level of peels application.
