We live in a time where children are no longer energetic, spontaneous, or creative, but instead they are labeled disruptive, problematic, and abnormal. This shift in language and social perception happened fairly quickly right under our noses, along with the rise of children being diagnosed and medicated for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). As a student nurse, I feel morally obliged to question the standards for diagnosis and treatment for children.
