Herein, we develop a novel single fluorophore-labeled double-stranded oligonucleotide (OND) probe for rapid fluorescence-enhanced K~+ detection, based on an inherent quenching ability of guanine bases and G-rich OND conformation transition from duplex to G-quadruplex. This probe presents high sensitivity and good selectivity for the detection of K~+, and the assay process is simple and fast. [Figure not available: see fulltext.]
