摘要

Total carbohydrate, glucose, lipid, protein, RNA and DNA wfre determined in the eggs of the rice ear cutting caterpillar, Mythimna separata during normal embryonic development. Significant increase in total carbohydrate content is evident during earlystages (0 - 8 h to 32 - 40 h) and later on (40 - 48 h to 64 - 72 h) declines. Glucose content decreases upto 24 h after that its level increases. Age related rise and fall is similar in total lipid and RNA contents. Protein content is highest and aminoacid is lowest at 0-8 h stage. At 8-16 h stage a rapid decline and a siiriultaneously increase in amino acid concentration afterwards there is a slight fluctuation in the amount of both these constituents. Slight increase in DNA content occurred till 40h then a linear increase in DNA occurs to cope with rapid replication. The RNA/DNA ratio shows up trend till 24 h stage indicating increasing synthetic activity but from 24 - 32 h the ratio begins to decrease and from 40 - 48 h, this fall is very rapid till it reaches to its minimum in the eggs of 64 - 72 h age group, which indicate a declining trend of protein synthesizing capacity per cell during later stages of embryonic development in the eggs.
