Morphometric and meristic characteristics of a specimen of Grammicolepis brachiusculus Poey caught off the Algarve coast, southern Portugal, are reported. This is the first record of this benthopelagic species in Portuguese waters (including Madeira and Azores Archipelagos) and its fifth finding in the north-eastern Atlantic.
