Airborne particle abrasion of zirconia fixed dental prostheses

Yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystalline (hereinafter "zirconia") offers a wide variety of clinical applications in reconstructive dentistry, such as single-and multiple-unit fixed dental prostheses (FDPs), posts, and implant abutments. Compared with other high-strength ceramics, it has superior mechanical properties with its high modulus of elasticity, wear resistance, fracture resistance (>2,000 N), flexural strength (900-1,200 MPa), and most importantly, its toughness (9-10 MPa itiaO.5).
