Composition of the Essential Oil from Roots of Salvia hypoleuca Benth.from Iran

The water-distilled roots oil of Salvia hypoleuca Benth.,a plant native to Iran,was studied by GC/MS.Among the 19 constituents identified,hexadecanoic acid(27.4%)and viridiflorol(14.9%)were the major components.The roots of S.hypoleuca were collected in July 2000 at flowering stage in northeastern Tehran,Khojir Park,Iran.A voucher specimen has been deposited at the Herbarium of the Research Institute of Forests and Rangelands(TARI),Tehran,Iran.
