Earlier experimental results on partial thermal vibrational spectra and on the atomic and electronic structure of icosahedral i-AlCuFe quasicrystals are used for analyzing the role of Al, Cu, and Fe atoms in interatomic interactions in these quasicrystals. A physical model proposed for the structure of i-AlCuFe quasicrystals matches with the available experimental data and provides a qualitative description of the features of the interatomic interaction.
