Heat Transfer in a Fluid Over a Linearly Stretching Sheet with Variable Thermal Conductivity and Internal Heat Generation

This paper deals with the study of two dimensional boundary layer heat transfer flow in a Newtonian fluid caused by a porous linearly stretching the sheet with internal heat generation in the presence of suction or blowing. The thermal conductivity is assumed to vary linearly with temperature as is found in liquid metals. The resulting non-linear energy equation is solved by analytical series method after the application of perturbation analysis. Several closed form analytical solutions for non-dimensional temperature, heat flux, are obtained for zeroth order equations in the form of confluent hypergeometric (Kummer's functions) functions for two different cases of the boundary conditions, namely (i) wall with prescribed second order power law temperature (PST) and (ii) wall with prescribed second order power law heat flux (PHF). The effect of various physical parameters like suction or blowing parameter, heat source or sink parameter, Prandtl number on temperature profiles are analysed. The effects of all these parameters on wall temperature gradient are also discussed.
