Nonparametric and Robust Methods in Econometrics.

Some people object to the term, “sustainable development”, going so far as to refer to it disparagingly, as an oxymoron. Such a view might be held by deep ecologists who use a definition of sustainability that requires that all ecological systems be preserved intact for future generations. At the other pole is the view of many economists, who reject the most stringent definition as impossible to attain. Taken literally, these economists maintain that we would have to cease energy use immediately, if we are not to diminish fossil fuels available for the next generation. By this approach, that generation or any future generation, cannot use fossil fuels or other non-renewable resources because the generation after would then have diminished natural resources.
