Nurse champions: a key role in bridging the gap between research and practice.

Evidence-based practices (EBPs) exist for many health conditions, yet these practices are not routinely implemented in clinical care delivery. To improve patient care and outcomes, we must narrow the gap between what we know from research and what we use in practice. The challenge lies in the timely integration of discovery into our daily clinical practice. Already over-extended practitioners or managers do not have the time or skills to keep current with the large volume of research publications in their area of practice. In this era of information overload, the need for accountability in providing evidence-based quality clinical care underscores the critical role of synthesis studies, such as systematic reviews and meta-analyses, along with clinical practice or best practice guidelines.
