Drugs for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Drug selection by means of the SOJA method

Selection of drugs used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction is performed by means of the System of Objectified Judgement Analysis (SOJA) method, which prospectively defines and weights selection criteria. All oral drugs available in the Netherlands were included in the analysis. The following selection criteria were used (relative weight between brackets): number of formulations (20),pharmacokinetics (80), drug interactions (100), clinical efficacy (375), side effects (205), acquisition cost (130) and documentation (90).Sildenafil showed the highest score, because of its superior documentation in comparison with tadalafil and vardenafil. Apomorphine showed a low score because of its poor clinical efficacy.
