The Mumbai airport has emerged the country's busiest airport, replacing rival Delhi airport, by recording its highest ever monthly passenger traffic of 2.53 million in December last year. The previous highest was 2.38 million passengers in January 2008, a Mumbai International Airport Limited (Mial) spokesperson said. Mial, which has got the mandate for modernising and upgrading the city airport, is a joint venture between the GVK-SA consortium and Airports Authority of India.
