Malaysia's textile and apparel sector is expected to stage a rebound in the second half of the year after a sixmonth slowdown in performance.Malaysian Textile Manufacturers'Association(MTMA)Executive Director,Mr.Choy Ming Bil,reportedly said that it was still uncertain whether the industry can attain last year's growth figures.For the first quarter of this year,the value of the local textile and apparel trade stood at RM3.83 billion.For the whole of last year,the value was RM 14.01 billion.The industry was the fourth largest-export earner for the country,contributing RM9.02 billion and RM 10.4 billion to the economy in 2001 and 2000,respectively.Total investments in the industry amounted to RM8.3 billion as at,end of last year.About 150,000 people are employed in the industry.
