China develops highspeed chip for 3G mobiles

Researchers have developed China's first highspeed chip for third-generation(3G)phones using wideband code division multiple access(WCDMA)technology,a media report said.The chip,which has been jointly developed by the Southeast University in Najing and Dongda Communication Company,passed voice and data transmission tests,proving it meets international WCDMA standards.
