Impact of tirhut milk producers' cooperative union limited (TIMUL) on the knowledge of dairy farmers of Bihar

The study was conducted in 8 villages of Northern Plains of Bihar, Kalwari, Nariyar, Pilki, and Mohammadpur villages of Muzaffarpur distrct and Mahuawa, Bisunpurwa, Pipradih and Bela villages of East Champar an district were selected randomly. Datawere collected from a total of 128 dairy farmers belonging to Beneficiaries (64) and non-Beneficiaries (64) of TIMUL. Equal percentage of knowledge regarding SDFPs. While 21.88 percent of beneficiaries were having high level of knowledge. Knowledge indexwas 47.58 and 41.72 percent among beneficiaries and non-beneficiares, respectively. Highest knowledge index was found in feeding and lowest knowledge index was found in health care among both beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries. Caste, herd size, milk production and milk sale were positively and significantly correlated with knowledge level of beneficiaries, whereas in case of non-beneficiaries, positive and significant correlation was found with herd size, income, milk production, milk consumption andmilk sale.
