摘要

Liriomyza trifolii (Burgess) (Agromyzidae : Diptera) is widely distributed throughout the world (Spencer, 1973) and is mainly a pest of vegetable, ornamental and field crops. Chemical control of this pest has become difficult (Lindquist, 1980) due todevelopment of resistance against many registered chemicals. Alternative management strategies are urgently needed but very little information is available on their effectiveness. Preliminary studies indicated that trap cropping with castor and marigoldare the alternatives (Sushila, 1996). Hence, present studies were undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of castor as trap crop in reducing the serpentine leaf miner damage on cotton.
