Production Potential of Cotton-Wheat Cropping System

摘要

Cotton is an important kharif cash crop of Haryana which is grown on an area of about 537 thousand hectares followed by wheat in rabi. The average yield of cotton-wheat is 10 and 37 q/ba respectively. But the potential yield of both cotton and wheat is much higher than the state average yield. The potential can be exploited by adopting the improved package of practices alongwith suitable crop variety and proper fertilizer management. Keeping in view the importance of the cotton wheat rotation, the two experiments were conducted at farmer's field from 1990-91 to 1993-94 to explort the yield potential of the cropping sequence.
