Studies have shown the negative effect of hemolysis on the troponin T assay (1,2). The troponin T high sensitivity (hs) assay has been recently introduced by Roche Diagnostics (Basel, Switzerland). However, data on stability and hemolysis interference on the new troponin T hs assay are relatively limited. The manufacturer (reagent reference number: 05092744) states that specimens are stable for 24 h at 2-8degC, 12 months at -20degC, and the assay is unaffected by hemolysis (Hb < 0.1 g/dL, sample showing visible signs of hemolysis may cause interference). Therefore, we evaluated the stability in samples at room temperature and the degree of analytical interference from hemolysis with the troponin T hs assay as part of our laboratory method validation.
