Study on the acoustical features of some Indian languages like - Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali and Hindi is carried out by several group of workers [9-16]. In this context, a study on the spectral characteristics of Boro language, a Sino-Tibetan family of language, is being made in this paper. Through the LPC analysis an attempt has been made in identifying the tonal characteristics of the language in general and the vowel phonemes in particular. It is observed that the cepstral measure may be a very useful parameter in studying the tonal characteristics and the identification of the location of the speaker as well.
