摘要

A new continuum mechanics approach based on electrostructural elements is proposed which is capable of studying and predicting the piezoelectric as well as mechanical properties of nano-structures. To evaluate the capabilities of the proposed approach, several properties of zigzag boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) including elastic constants and piezoelectric coefficients are evaluated. Comparisons are made between the results obtained in this paper and those available in the open literature.
