摘要

This September 2010 issue presents a fascinating series coordinated by John Ioannidis on 'omics.' The advent of personal computers and personal computer operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, and Apple, and the simplifying of bioinformatics has meant that large data runs looking for associations in every conceivable type of data (including clinical chart information, genetics data [genes, proteins, and ligands], health systems data, laboratory data, and patient registries and surveys). There is now so much data available on accessible databases that, combined with the computing power in the home, predictable chaos has ensued. Fortunately, some of the best minds in the world, including Nobel Prize winners, have brought some order to the genetics aspects through the different 'omics.'
