Safety frames (also called bed frames, side frames, and side supports) used in nursing homes have become a permanent fixture in nursing beds. Their purpose is to stop restless or confused residents from falling out of bed. They are also intended to give care receivers a sense of security by marking the outer limits of the bed. Nowadays,safety frames are available in a variety of designs.However, if residents try to climb over them, end-to-end raised frames can actually increase the risk of accident. In addition, this method of restraint places a significant subjective strain on care receivers.
